Short biography of MAESTRO BOGUSLAW DAWIDOW Internationally renowned for his musical knowledge, immense enthusiasm and also highly valued for his extraordinary stage presence, since 1999 Boguslaw Dawidow has been involved in forming the artistic shape of Opole Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra as the General and Artistic Director. Born in Sopot (Poland), Boguslaw Dawidow studied conducting under Bohdan Wodiczko and Krzysztof Missona. Later on he mastered his conducting style and artistry in Vienna and Italy. However the most significant influence on his musical personality exerted Leonard Bernstein. Over the years of his brilliant music career, Maestro Dawidow conducted with various orchestras in many different parts of the world including Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Rome, Zurich, Moscow, London, Leningrad, USA and the Far East – Peking, Hong Kong, Shanghai. He cooperated with various music ensembles and institutions around the world and made numerous high quality classical music recordings of composers such as Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Szymanowski and Elsner. Between years 1991 and 1995 Maestro Dawidow was a conductor of the famous Wojciech Rajski’s Polish Chamber Orchestra and from 1994 till 2002 he was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the National Academic Symphony Orchestra at the Russian Philharmonic in Tomsk, which is one of Russia’s oldest orchestras established in 1879. In the 1980s Maestro Dawidow founded the Chopin Chamber Orchestra in Cracow (Poland), with which he continues touring through Europe with much success. In addition to that, since 1998 Maestro Dawidow holds the post of Principal Guest Conductor of Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra (USA). Thanks to his exceptional music talent, wide – range of experience and managerial skills (in 2002 recognized and honoured by ABI in New York with the title Man of the year), Maestro Dawidow led Opole Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra into a decade of intense growth in both musical expression and repertoire, as well as continuing development of the artistic potential. |
